A survey on sexual harassment in Hollywood is conducted by Writers Guild of America West

Since the birth of the #MeToo movement – that was originally started by social activist Tarana Burke in 2006 and initiated again by Alyssa Milano in October 2017 – the world has changed.

The issue of sexual harassment, assault, misconduct and inappropriate behavior and the stories of women who have suffered through it and are breaking their silence is growing, across cities, countries and continents throughout the world wide web. And while the movement has since expanded beyond artists, its origin led to a number of celebrities in Hollywood being accused of committing one, two or all of the acts, beginning with (now former) A-list producer Harvey Weinstein.

But even as many women have come forward from Hollywood including prolific names such as Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lawrence and most recently Cate Blanchett, the magnitude of the problem within the industry has remained unknown until now.

According to an exclusive published in Deadline, that has since been picked up by other outlets, the Writers Guild of America West (WGA West) has conducted a survey on sexual harassment to which more than 2,000 members have responded. According to Deadline it is the “industry’s most extensive study of the problem to date”.
